Composed by Dorothee Piot

The ball is over, masks are still in hand, and Venetian stone smells of dampness before dawn. JUL ET MAD Amour de Palazzo doesn't describe an arrival at a palazzo, but rather wandering after a night when no one wanted to return home.

Pepper, clove, ginger, and nutmeg create a dry, warm opening. The spices act like residual warmth from the ballroom, while around them a darker scent of old wood and leather is already perceptible.

Oud, papyrus, and amber build the interior of the palazzo: polished furniture, long corridors, and surfaces that centuries of touch have made gleaming. Animalic castoreum adds physicality to the leather, far from a sterile interpretation of luxury.

Dorothée Piot created this extrait as part of Jul et Mad's love story. Venice here is a stage, but also an active part of the scent—fog, lagoon, wet stone, and the opulence of the interiors blend with the intimacy of two people walking aimlessly.

As it develops, musk softens the spices, and amber encloses the space around the oud and castoreum. The perfume becomes warmer and closer to the skin, like clothes that have absorbed the smell of the wooden hall, dampness, and dance until morning.

This is not a cheerful postcard of Venice. Oud, papyrus, and animalic leather belong to the city after midnight—when the chandeliers are extinguished, and lovers are still searching for an exit from the labyrinth.

Several people have confirmed that it is a pleasant, wearable amber leather scent — smooth, warmly spiced, and resinous, without overly sharp animalic notes.
