Arcadia

Fougère literally means fern, although fern does not have a natural fragrant oil from which perfume could be made. HIRAM GREEN Arcadia therefore does not copy the plant, but builds an entire imagined landscape in which it could grow.

French lavender and Italian bergamot open the composition aromatically, green and clear. Bergamot brightens the lavender, but does not turn it into soapy cleanliness; beneath them, the wetter depth of the forest floor is already felt.

Jasmine and rose appear like flowers in places where the sun breaks through the canopy. They do not take over the scent, but give short warm nuances between the greens, spices and resins.

Hiram Green finds inspiration in Arcadia as an untouched wilderness full of mountains, streams, dense forests, insects and birds. The composition follows the classic fougère idea, but fills it with richer floral and woody materials.

Tonka, aged patchouli and New Caledonian sandalwood later pull the perfume deeper towards the earth. Lavender remains recognizable, but becomes warmer, softer and enveloped in a resinous, almost velvety base.

Arcadia is not a neatly trimmed aromatic cologne. It is lavender over aged patchouli and forest flowers — a fern that does not exist in the bottle, but has an entire forest around it.
