Archetipo

Candlelight flickers over moonstone and marble, but the space remains completely silent. MENDITTOROSA Archetipo imagines a scent that existed before the words we would use to describe it.

Elemi balsam and pink pepper give the opening a cool, resinous tension. Then comes the super-essence of frankincense and a burning flame accord, more glowing than overtly smoky.

A moonstone accord introduces a mineral, pale surface against the warmth of the fire. Patchouli and Indonesian vetiver beneath it create roots and dark earth, like knots buried deep beneath a stone floor.

Luca Maffei builds the perfume around archetypal memory: nests, streets, roots, and loops of time that we recognize before conscious explanation. The idea is grand, but the materials remain strict and physical.

Cashmere wood, labdanum, black amber, and oakmoss in the base create a warmer, denser framework. The flame gradually turns to embers, and the frankincense remains trapped between soft wood and damp moss.

The cap, handcrafted by Italian artist Mauro Carrazza, represents order emerging from chaos. The same relationship is held by frankincense between moonstone, flame, and roots — an olfactive knot you don't immediately want to untangle.
