The victory has already been won, but it is precisely then that the conqueror understands the price of his own strength. NEELA VERMEIRE ASHOKA follows the transformation of Indian Emperor Ashoka from a ruthless warrior to a ruler devoted to truth, justice, and compassion.

The opening is decisive and green. Fig leaf, leather, and fig milk combine a tart freshness with a creamy, almost tactile softness.

Then come white and pink lotus, mimosa, osmanthus, rose, and water hyacinth. The floral part is not opulent for show; it is calm, gentle, and airy like the moment when strength yields to understanding.

Vetiver, styrax, and fir balsam lead to frankincense, sandalwood, and myrrh. The drydown remains mild, resinous, and contemplative, with tonka rounding its edges.

This 60 ml Eau de Parfum is signed by Bertrand Duchaufour, and in 2014 it won the Independent Winner award at the Art and Olfaction Awards.
