Carrot Water Lily Neroli Maple Peru Balsam Cedarwood Vetiver Castoreum Cocoa Pod Vanilla Bean Patchouli Sandalwood

Composed by Pascal Gaurin

While beavers arrange wet branches in spring, a few trees away, people tap maple trees and channel the sap towards a syrup-boiling house. ZOOLOGIST Beaver (Maple Edit) combines these two activities into a scent of water, wood, and dark sweetness.

Blue water lily, Egyptian neroli, and carrot heart give the opening a fresh, green, and slightly earthy character. The maple accord appears early, but it is not yet a thick syrup; it's more like sweet sap just flowing through the wood.

Haitian vetiver, Atlas and Virginian cedar then bring the construction material for the beaver's lodge. Peruvian balsam and patchouli add resin and damp soil, like branches pressed into mud at the water's edge.

Pascal Gaurin develops the scent towards a warmer "sugar shack," where maple sap turns into golden syrup. Vanilla extract and Madagascar cacao shell give it a darker, less childish gourmand dimension.

The reconstruction of castoreum and New Caledonian sandalwood in the base create a soft, animalic shelter. Zoologist does not use animal products; the castoreum effect here is entirely synthetic.

Beaver Maple Edit is not just the scent of pancakes with maple syrup. It is maple over wet cedar, cacao, and synthetic castoreum — a warm lodge whose entrance is beneath cold water.
