Sugar and smoky wood don't just alternate here; they cling to each other from the very first moment. VERTUS Vanilla Oud is a rich gourmand-oriental fragrance for someone who wants vanilla to be thick, warm, and resting on a dark woody base.
Vanilla, sugar, and caramel open the composition directly, without hiding their sweetness. Caramel provides a roasted edge, sugar a shine, and vanilla a creamy fullness that will remain throughout the development.
Vertus Paris contrasts this sweetness with oud's depth and cypriol. Cypriol gives a dry, earthy, and smoky tone, so the composition doesn't feel like a cream by itself, but rather like cream applied to dark wood.
On the skin, guaiac, patchouli, and amber merge with cedar and sandalwood. The woods gradually become smoother and warmer, while the caramel recedes into a resinous background.
If you don't like very sweet vanilla, this scent won't try to convert you. If you want a raw or medicinal oud, the gourmand surface will be too soft for you; Vanilla Oud deliberately seeks a balance between addictive sweetness and smoke.
In the dry-down, caramel remains on guaiac and sandalwood, with patchouli under a layer of vanilla — a dessert served on a piece of wood that still smells of smoke.
