The name promises wood and leather, but the first encounter surprises with the amount of light. VERTUS Bois et Cuir opens with bergamot and lavender before descending into a warmer, softer woody shade.
Bergamot and lavender give the opening a citrusy-aromatic neatness. The freshness is clean, but not watery, with a slight bitter streak reminiscent of classic masculine fragrances.
Jasmine then softens the composition without creating a lavish floral bouquet. Its warmth connects the aromatic introduction with sandalwood and creates a smooth, almost creamy transition.
The composition is led under the name Vertus Paris, and the leathery character is built more by impression than by a crude, literal animality. Sandalwood, moss, and musk together create a darker, tactile surface behind the brighter opening.
As bergamot fades, the moss becomes drier, the sandalwood warmer, and the musk stays close to the skin. The fragrance gradually loses its freshness, but does not become dense or sweet.
Bois et Cuir is not a black leather jacket full of smoke. Its signature is sandalwood and moss beneath lavender and jasmine — leather conceived as a polished texture, not a raw animalic note.
