Callisto

Callisto can be a spurned nymph or Jupiter's fourth moon; in either case, it is out of reach. JUL ET MAD Callisto smells like an evening gaze at something cold, shiny, and yet unexplored.

Pink pepper, neroli, and aldehydes open the extrait brilliantly and almost weightlessly. The pepper provides tiny tingles, the neroli a bitter floral freshness, and the aldehydes spread a glow like the last light in a summer sky.

Iris adds a cool, powdery surface to that light. It does not act like an earthy root but like a pale mineral powder over the skin, creating a transition towards an increasingly warmer base.

Luca Maffei connects the mythological Callisto, whose name means "most beautiful" in ancient Greek, with Jupiter's moon discovered by Galileo in 1610. The perfume draws a journey to the stars and into one's own interior from this dual name.

Vanilla, benzoin, patchouli, and musk later envelop the cool iris. The opening fades like dusk, while a resinous sweetness creates the warm darkness of a black sand beach under the stars.

Callisto is not just powdery iris or classic vanilla. It is iris illuminated by aldehydes over benzoin and black patchouli — a moon that looks cold until you get close enough.
