Composed by Christian Carbonnel

In the desert, the origin and destination start to seem the same after some time. ZOOLOGIST Camel carries the burden of an entire caravan: dried fruit, dates, roses, frankincense, wood, and animalic musk under a merciless sun.

Dried fruit, dates, and frankincense open the fragrance densely and warmly. The sweetness is concentrated like provisions for a long journey, while smoke and cinnamon immediately bring dry desert heat.

Rose, jasmine, and orange blossom create a luxurious floral fabric over myrrh and amber. The flowers do not seem freshly picked; they are soaked in resins and spices like goods that have traveled for days in sealed crates.

Christian Carbonnel builds the composition like the lonely journey of a camel over a constantly shifting dune. There is no water on the horizon, only the sun, stars, and the memory of a sweet date.

Oud, sandalwood, tonka, and vanilla deepen the base, while civet and musk add an animalic warmth. Zoologist does not use animal products; the effects of civet and musk are obtained synthetically.

Camel is not an airy desert with a touch of saffron. It is a date wrapped in rose, myrrh, oud, and synthetic civet — the fragrant cargo of a caravan that has yet to see the marketplace.
