The dodo on Mauritius awoke with no natural enemies, stumbled to overripe fruit, and lost even the memory of flight. ZOOLOGIST Dodo Jackfruit Edition begins with precisely that abundant, strange feast.
Jackfruit accord, bergamot, and pink pepper open the extrait tropically, fermentedly sweet, and spicy. Turmeric leaf adds a green, aromatic edge that prevents the fruit from becoming a neat juice.
Lavender, geranium, and orange blossom create a fougère heart, while turmeric root brings a dry, earthy warmth. Orris concrete adds a powdery texture, like dust on the feathers of the clumsy bird.
Yves Cassar sets the composition on an island that protected the dodo for so long with abundance that its wings became unnecessary. In that comfort already lies the reason for its disappearance.
Tonka, vetiver, sandalwood, patchouli, and labdanum later pull the fruit towards dark forest soil. Jackfruit remains recognizable, but it increasingly appears overripe and mixed with roots.
Dodo Jackfruit Edition is not a cheerful tropical smoothie. It is jackfruit with turmeric, powdery orris, and earth under patchouli — the last feast of a bird that never expected danger.
