She looks like an unassuming Parisian art critic on her way to an exhibition opening. In fact, she is on her way to an orgy. JOUISSANCE En Plein Air builds its entire character on this discrepancy between intellectual coolness and a very physical life.
Bergamot, lemon, and grapefruit open the Eau de Parfum dry, radiant, and somewhat austere. The bitterness of grapefruit prevents the citrus from acting like a carefree summer cologne.
White flowers appear discreetly, without a grand bouquet. Rain then moistens the entire scene and brings in a sense of earth, cool air, and skin outdoors.
Caren Roberts finds inspiration in Catherine Millet, author of erotic memoirs and co-founder of Art Press magazine. Millet writes about art, sex, and hedonism with a detachment that hides a need for belonging.
Musk later connects the citrus purity with the body. The perfume becomes softer and more intimate, but maintains the serious face of a person who does not intend to explain where they are going after the gallery.
En Plein Air is not an innocent citrus freshness despite the first impression. It is grapefruit, white flowers, and rain on the skin of an art critic — neat enough for the editorial office, physical enough for the plans afterward.
