Fucking Fabulous

A name does half the work before you even smell the perfume. But TOM FORD Fucking Fabulous Eau de Parfum didn't become recognizable just because of its label. Beneath the provocation lies a very specific blend of bitter almond, leather, iris, and tonka that is at once aromatic, powdery, and warm.

The opening belongs to clary sage and lavender. It's briefly fresh, green, and clean, almost as if it's going to develop into a classic aromatic perfume. Then comes bitter almond – dry, slightly marzipan-like and instantly recognizable – completely changing direction.

In the heart, the leather accord combines with iris. The leather is not smoky and raw like in Tuscan Leather; here it is softer, smoother, and enveloped in the powdery texture of iris. Vanilla and tonka add a creamy sweetness, while cashmeran, amber tones, and light wood leave a warm, dry trail.

It is precisely because of this contrast that Fucking Fabulous can show a completely different face to different people. For some, it will primarily be almond and tonka, for others powdery iris, and for still others soft leather with an aromatic beginning. It is not a classic gourmand, although it has almond and vanilla; nor is it a classic leather perfume, although leather is at its core.

On the skin, it becomes increasingly rounded. Lavender and sage recede, the almond loses its initial bitterness, and tonka and leather remain longest, intertwined with a powdery, almost velvety sensation.

If you love bitter almond, iris, tonka, lavender, and soft leather, it's very easy to understand why this Private Blend has become one of the house's hallmarks. If marzipan or powdery nuances bother you, the name might attract you more than the perfume itself – so be sure to try it on your skin.
