Composed by Luca Maffei

On the stone galleries of Angkor Wat, the Garudas at sunset look as if they are covered in gold. JUL ET MAD Garuda builds that image from citrus, pepper, dry wood, oud, and warm amber.

Bergamot and orange open the extrait with a brief flash, while cumin and pink pepper immediately introduce body warmth and spiciness.

Patchouli, Timbersilk, and Javanese vetiver create a dry, earthy construction. Cedar and Cashmeran add the texture of stone and wood that the jungle has enveloped for years.

Luca Maffei finds inspiration in Garuda, the "Lord of Birds" who, in Hindu and Buddhist traditions, accompanies Vishnu and Krishna in their fight against evil. His sculptures guard the temples of Angkor.

Oud, amber, vanilla, and musk later transform the dry wood into a more golden, warmer trail. Cumin recedes, but remains bodily enough that the monumental base doesn't feel cold.

Garuda is not a tourist image of a tropical jungle. It is oud, vetiver, and pepper on a stone wing bathed in sunset — a temple guardian that looks as if carved from gold.
