Joyeux

A sunny day in a lavender field sounds simple, but this extrait beneath the purple spikes hides leather, algae, resins, and ambergris. SULTAN PASHA Joyeux begins as pure joy in the air and ends much deeper in the warm earth.

Lavandin obtained by enfleurage, lavender essential oil, and bergamot open the composition brightly and aromatically. Mint gives it a cool breath, while lavender absolute deepens the plant from a green top to a drier, almost hay-like warmth.

Clary sage, jasmine, and lily of the valley then expand the heart without turning the fougère into a bouquet. Mousse de Saxe, tonka, and patchouli introduce sweet earth, while vetiver beneath the lavender leaves a firm, rooty streak.

Christian Carbonnel and Sultan Pasha built Joyeux around an exceptional lavandin enfleurage. The goal is the feeling of a carefree day in the field, but the formula does not stop at mere illustration: the joy acquires layers, shadow, and surprising longevity.

Mysore sandalwood, leather, Siamese benzoin, and opoponax later create a warm, resinous base. Ambergris, musk, and seaweed absolute add a salty, animalic depth that makes the dry hay no longer seem entirely tame.

Joyeux is not a lavender for clean sheets or a simple cologne. It is a sunny lavandin over leather, sweet hay, ambergris, and seaweed — a joy that knows every field has dark earth beneath it.
