The old barbershop has moved to a city bar: lavender remains, but instead of aftershave, a gin with plenty of juniper and pepper is ordered. MAISON LABEL Juniper Wood carries classic aromatic neatness with a more modern, spicy edge.

Cardamom, lavender, and black pepper deliver an initial burst of coolness and warmth simultaneously. Cardamom is fresh, pepper is dry and direct, and lavender establishes a familiar, clean structure between them.

Juniper berries and coriander then take the center stage. Juniper is green, resinous, and clearly reminiscent of gin, while coriander adds a citrus-spicy spark and discreet sweetness.

Angela Ciampagna works with a very concise list of materials, so changes are easy to follow. The scent doesn't have a huge woody forest despite its name; the impression of wood comes from the dryness of the spices, juniper, and the warmth of the base.

Musk later smooths out the entire composition, and amber gives it a warmer, masculine finish. Lavender loses its soapy sharpness, while juniper remains present enough to prevent the scent from sliding into soft amber anonymity.

Juniper Wood is neither a sweet cocktail nor a retro barbershop trapped in the past. It is a juniper gin spiced with cardamom, pepper, and lavender behind a city bar — classically neat, but with the top button unbuttoned.
