Pear, anise, and orange open the composition juicy, spicy, and somewhat unusual. Anise cools the sweetness of the pear, while orange zest gives the scene its first bright edge, like the sun on a dune.

Virginia cedar quickly introduces dry wood. Myrrh adds its bitter balsamic quality, and nutmeg, pink pepper, and cardamom raise the warmth without a heavy, kitchen-like impression.
