Note

Cumin Lily Powdery notes Heliotrope Musk Iris

Composed by Caren Roberts

Freshly cut lilies stand beside an open notebook, and on its pages remain powder, cumin, and secrets not meant for public consumption. JOUISSANCE Les Cahiers Secrets imagines the scent of Anaïs Nin, between a Parisian salon and a private life.

Freshly cut lilies and cumin open the Eau de Parfum with cool floral moisture and body warmth. This collision immediately shatters any idea of an innocent white bouquet.

Pressed powder, heliotrope, and orris then create an intimate, dry texture. The powder acts like a trace on paper or skin, heliotrope introduces an almondy softness, and orris gives the entire fragrance a serious, slightly rooty core.

Caren Roberts finds inspiration in the multiple lives of Anaïs Nin: the Parisian literary scene of the 1930s, erotic stories written for a dollar a page, published diaries, and her later-revealed bigamous life between two coasts.

Musk on the skin connects the flower, powder, and cumin without a big dramatic twist. The lily becomes quieter, the orris warmer, and the bodily note remains in the background like the contents of an unpublished diary.

Les Cahiers Secrets is not a powdery iris for neat vanity. It is orris among lilies, cumin, powder, and musk on the pages of a secret diary — the scent of the only woman in an avant-garde literary circle.

Several people confirmed its intimate, seductive character: cumin and powder on warm skin, like a vintage secret.
