Composed by Mackenzie Reilly

Above a silent temple, monkeys pick apples and enjoy themselves without a trace of human seriousness. ZOOLOGIST Macaque (Fuji Apple Edit) frames their joy with hinoki, peace, and the solemn smoke of incense.

Fuji apple and juniper berries open the composition crisply, sweetly, and greenly. Olibanum appears very early, so the fruit doesn't remain playfully on its own but enters a cooler, almost meditative space.

Myrrh deepens the resinous side, while hinoki builds a clean, calm forest. Hydrocarbon resin introduces an unusual contemporary edge, as if the natural landscape momentarily transformed into an abstract surface.

Mackenzie Reilly bases the story on two communities living side by side. The temple people observe the carefree macaques and envy their ability to surrender to the moment; the monkeys barely notice them.

Oakmoss absolute and New Caledonian sandalwood later provide earthiness and creamy silence. Olibanum hyperabsolute increases the smoky weight, but the Fuji apple still holds a thin line of joy above the stern wood.

Macaque (Fuji Apple Edit) is no ordinary fruity-woody perfume. It is Fuji apple in a hinoki forest, between myrrh, moss, and double olibanum — a monkey's play that does not disturb the temple's peace, but rather makes it more human.

One user specifically highlighted the autumn pairing of hinoki and apple on creamy sandalwood and amber, without the harsh synthetic amberwood note.
