Composed by Angela Ciampagna
Caramel and cinnamon don't end up in a Christmas cake here: blackberry, walnut, and redcurrant push them towards a darker, tart side. MAISON LABEL Maltol & Cinnamon is a gourmand with enough spice and wood to prevent it from being merely sweet.
Caramel, maltol, and walnut open the composition densely, toasted, and almost sticky. The walnut immediately adds bitterness and a dry texture, making the opening more reminiscent of a dark praline than cotton candy.
Cinnamon raises the temperature in the heart, while blackberry and redcurrant cut through the sweetness with juicy tartness. The berries are not merely a garnish on a dessert; they maintain balance and give the perfume a livelier, red edge.
Angela Ciampagna structured the formula to also serve as a good base for layering. It can warm up Frangipani or Ylang Ylang & Musk, and give Vanilla and Amber & Rosewood perfumes an even richer gourmand foundation.
Vanilla, musk, benzoin, and sandalwood gradually smooth out the cinnamon on the skin. The berries recede, the caramel becomes more resinous, and the walnut remains as a dry shadow in the creamy finish.
Maltol & Cinnamon is not a light, everyday cinnamon scent. It is caramel with walnuts, cinnamon, blackberry, and benzoin on sandalwood — a base that transforms another perfume into a dessert with a darker edge.
