Piper nigrum and Madagascan ginger open the extrait dry, spicy, and lively. The spices are not noise but a brief awakening of the senses before olibanum and benzoin bring the composition into a more balsamic rhythm.

Santalum album from India takes center stage: creamy, milky, dry, and soft in the same breath. Tonka absolute adds warmth, while sacred musk and a velvet accord give the wood an intimate, skin-close surface.

Cristiano Canali has long explored sandalwood professionally and personally; encountering it in India, he says, opened his heart to perfumery. With Stefania Squeglia, he composed Mauna as a fragrant sutra and a tribute to Ayurvedic tradition.

As the spices fade, sandalwood, benzoin, and tonka become increasingly rounded. The scent does not develop with dramatic twists but slowly deepens, like attention that stops rushing to the next thought.

On the bottle, Alessandro Reggioli's raku lotus awaits, with roots imagined deep in the unconscious lake. Beneath it is Indian sandalwood in velvet, olibanum, black pepper, and sacred musk — a silence you don't hear with your ears.
