Composed by Luca Maffei

The Byzantine golden age here does not smell only of frankincense and stone, but of dates, pomegranate, eight white musks and vanilla over a gunpowder trail. JUL ET MAD Néa transforms the splendor of the empire into a warm, dense, and somewhat explosive extrait.

Date, davana, and pomegranate open the composition sweet, fruity, and aromatic. The palm leaf brings a greener edge, and black pepper cuts through the richness with a dry, spicy kick.

Eight white musks build a broad, soft surface on which vanilla can act luxuriously without losing airiness. Patchouli and cashmeran then add earth and texture, while ambroxan spreads warmth around the skin.

Luca Maffei finds inspiration in Nea Ecclesia, a church built by Basil I next to the imperial palace as a sign of renewal. The name evokes a period when Byzantium was an economic, cultural, and religious center at the height of its power.

Olibanum introduces a ceremonial smoke, and the Dynamone gunpowder accord pulls a dark, dry trail through the sweetness. Dates and vanilla become more resinous, pomegranate fades, while musks remain like a luxurious fabric.

Néa is not just an ordinary vanilla with oriental decor. It is date and vanilla over eight musks, pomegranate, frankincense, and Byzantine gunpowder — a golden age that still carries an explosive under its silken surface.

One user particularly emphasized the playful, childish, and innocent fruity character that won them over, even though they generally dislike fruity perfumes.
