Saffron Bergamot Lemon Red Rose Plum Blossom Violet Oakmoss Ambergris White Musk Oud Patchouli Incense Labdanum Sandalwood

Composed by Tomoo Inaba

The nightingale's song arrives before winter has fully retreated, and the pink blossoms of the Japanese plum are already counting down the brief moment until a new departure. ZOOLOGIST Nightingale portrays spring as both joyous and melancholic in the same breath.

Bergamot, lemon, and saffron open the composition brightly, sourly, and with golden spice. Japanese plum blossom and red rose then create a tart, powdery pink fullness akin to a silk kimono.

Violet deepens the powder, but beneath the petals, oud, patchouli, and sandalwood are already seeping. The floral chypre therefore does not remain innocent; the spring color constantly conceals dark wood and damp earth.

Tomoo Inaba builds the fragrance around the Japanese emotional awakening after winter. For some, the first blossoms signify celebration and a new beginning, for others, a reminder that they must soon depart for an unknown horizon.

Moss, frankincense, labdanum, white musk, and ambergris later create a warm, resinous base. Zoologist does not use animal products; the musky and ambergris effects here are synthetic.

Nightingale is not a simple spring bouquet. It is Japanese plum blossom in pink silk, over oud, moss, frankincense, and synthetic ambergris — a song that simultaneously announces return and farewell.
