Olive Wood & Leather

The name suggests olive wood, but the formula doesn't play on a Mediterranean postcard: lemon, saffron, caramel, and oud build a considerably darker room. MAISON LABEL Olive Wood & Leather smells like old leather laid on polished wood.

Lemon, saffron, and caramel open the composition sharply, leathery, and sweet. The citrus briefly brightens the surface, while saffron and caramel immediately create tension between dryness and sticky warmth.

Cedarwood and sandalwood then build a woody heart, and gurjun balm adds resinous depth. The leathery impression doesn't come as a single smooth suede, but builds up from saffron, balm, dark wood, and warmth.

Angela Ciampagna conceived the formula as a strong base for layering. Maltol & Cinnamon can add a spicy sweetness, while Ylang Ylang & Musk or Amber & Fig gain a firmer, darker framework over it.

Vanilla, vetiver, oud, and labdanum later create an oriental base. The caramel softens, vetiver dries the edges, and oud and labdanum leave a long resinous-leathery trail.

Olive Wood & Leather is not the scent of a fresh olive branch. It is saffron, caramel, gurjun balm, oud, and labdanum leather on dry cedar — a base solid enough to build your own perfume upon.
