Oud Noir

Black oud here first cuts with lemon and rhubarb, and only then closes the door behind it. VERTUS Oud Noir is not completely dark from the beginning; it is precisely the brief acidity that gives more weight to the later depth.

Lemon, saffron, and rhubarb open the composition brightly, dryly, and tartly. Saffron draws a leathery tension through the citrus, while rhubarb leaves a sharp, green-red edge.

Lily and rose then introduce a floral heart, but clove immediately warms it and makes it more serious. The flowers are not a separate romantic phase; they serve as a transition between the acidity of the opening and the dark wood.

The formula is signed by Vertus Paris, and its strength lies in a clear descent towards oud. Instead of a multitude of decorative accords, the perfume builds tension between saffron, flower, spice, and an increasingly dense base.

Oud, patchouli, musk, amber, cedarwood, and guaiac later take over the skin. Rhubarb disappears, rose darkens, and guaiac and cedar provide a smoky-dry construction around the agar.

Oud Noir is not a sweet oud for a safe evening choice. It is a dark agar pierced by rhubarb, saffron, clove, rose, and smoky guaiac — a blackness that is better seen because of one acidic cut.
