Imagine dust under a scorching sun, thick hide, and a glass of whiskey left by a campfire. ZOOLOGIST Rhinoceros (2020) doesn't offer a tame savannah; it enters with the weight of an animal that doesn't ask for permission to occupy space.
Whiskey, rum, and coffee collide at the start, with pink pepper and basil adding a sharp, aromatic kick. The boozy sweetness is thick, but the coffee keeps it dark and bitterish.
Prin Lomros then builds an armor of leather, frankincense, and tobacco absolute. Flouve and ylang-ylang briefly soften the transition, but the composition remains dry, smoky, and robust, like sand-beaten hide.
In the drydown, Laotian oud, nagarmotha, and patchouli blend with oakmoss and amber. The wood is dark, earthy, and smoky, not polished or creamy.
On skin, the boozy opening gradually becomes a cloud of red tobacco over leather and dusty amber. If you want a subtle oud or a light coffee scent, Rhinoceros will be too massive for you. The leather effect is synthetic, and no animal products were used.
In the end, a trace of rum remains on an old saddle, with moss and oud under hot dust — territory marked by a single heavy step.
