A paradise hidden from the world begins here with an almost sharp citrus, not soft clouds. HIRAM GREEN Shangri la is a contemporary chypre where peach, flowers, and spices hang between a bright opening and earthy oakmoss.
Lemon, orange, and bergamot open the composition with a clear, sharp flash. Peach soon softens the acidity and leads to a richer heart without syrupy fruitiness.
Hiram Green first introduced Shangri La in 2014, discontinued it in 2018, and then brought it back in a refreshed edition in 2022. The name and inspiration come from the mythical Himalayan utopia in James Hilton's 1933 novel Lost Horizon.
Jasmine, rose, and iris provide a luxurious floral layer, while cinnamon and warm spices make the new version somewhat warmer and softer. Vetiver and oakmoss create a classic chypre contrast to the citruses.
On the skin, the bright opening slowly expands into a floral-spicy fullness, then dries down to moss. If you want a modern clean citrus or a sweet peach, the earthy base might seem too classic for you.
Shangri la ends as a peach petal on a moss-covered stone, while the last trace of lemon enters through the Himalayan mist—a paradise that remains airy precisely because it has solid ground.
