Sortilège

This is a floral perfume that enters like a whole party, not just a single bouquet. LE GALION Sortilège carries an aldehyde shimmer, the opulence of white and yellow flowers, and that confident femininity that belongs on the red carpet.

Aldehydes, lilac, and lily of the valley open it brilliantly and almost effervescently. The flowers then expand without minimalism: ylang-ylang, jasmine, mimosa, rose, narcissus, and iris each add their own color and texture.

Paul Vacher created Sortilège in 1936 as an homage to the extravagant parties of the Roaring Twenties. In 1950, it became the signature scent of New York's Stork Club, with Marilyn Monroe and Ava Gardner as its famous ambassadors.

Marie Duchêne signs today's composition. Narcissus and iris give the floral heart a proud, mysterious dryness, while sandalwood, musk, amber, vetiver, and labdanum build a creamy warm base.

On the skin, the initial brilliance settles, but the perfume doesn't become quiet. If you're looking for a contemporary transparent floral scent or a single distinctive rose, Sortilège will be too lavish and consciously classic for you.

In the drydown, narcissus remains upright over sandalwood and labdanum, while aldehydes still sparkle like chandeliers in a club from which the last guests have just departed.
