Citron Bergamot Lavender Cinnamon Amber Labdanum Opoponax Vanilla Oakmoss Birch Patchouli Castoreum

Composed by David Maruitte

Good manners last until castoreum appears beneath the lavender. LE GALION Special for Gentlemen starts neat and cool, then shows fire beneath a perfectly buttoned coat.

Bergamot, lemon, and lavender open the composition fresh, classic, and aromatic. Galbanum adds a green, slightly bitter cut that gives discipline to the opening and keeps the citruses dry.

Paul Vacher created the fragrance in 1947, the same year he composed Miss Dior for Christian Dior. It was his first men's perfume, conceived for a gentleman who combines confidence and refinement with softness — and which women borrowed without hesitation.

Cinnamon warms the transition towards cistus, opoponax, and castoreum. Patchouli, vanilla, and oakmoss create a rich amber base, while the animalic tone prevents the smoothness from becoming impersonal.

On the skin, it goes from fresh lavender to a balsamic, mossy warmth. If you are looking for a contemporary sweet men's perfume or a completely clean fougère, this one will seem more old-fashioned and dangerous than the name suggests.

Towards the end, castoreum remains in the moss, with cinnamon and lavender above it — James Bond or a Bond girl, but certainly someone who knows what they hide beneath their evening wear.
