Cypress Fir Balsam Eucalyptus Rosemary Cedarwood Labdanum Chamomile Thyme Lavender Sage

Composed by Rodrigo Flores-Roux & Santi Burgas

Open an old wooden box of medicinal herbs, then take it to a sun-drenched Mediterranean hillside. Somewhere between these two images lies SANTI BURGAS [T] TDM - Torroella de Montgrí.

First, wild chamomile emerges, dry, bitter, and much less domesticated than the chamomile from a teacup. Beside it grow lavender, rosemary, sage, and thyme flower, so the entire opening feels like a bundle of wild herbs crushed between the palms.

Eucalyptus absolute cuts through that warmth with an almost pharmaceutical coolness. Pine, Mediterranean cypress, and fir balsam soon erect a green, resinous structure that evokes a landscape more than a classic aromatic perfume.

Torroella de Montgrí is the town where Santi Burgas lives and where his house was founded. The perfume is a personal homage to the fields, orchards, and the old castle between the river and the sea, whose walls are warmed by the Ampurdán sun.

Rodrigo Flores-Roux and Santi Burgas did not sweeten this story with sugar. Labdanum and cedarwood later warm the composition, but the herbal bitterness remains alive; it merely transitions from a fresh to a resinous, almost dusty phase.

If you expect clean linens from lavender, you won't find them here. You'll get chamomile, eucalyptus, and Mediterranean cypress that smell like a homemade herbal remedy brewed somewhere beneath the walls of Torroella.
