Paradise only becomes interesting when cognac, leather, and animalic oud sneak into the mango and sunset. MEMOIRS OF A PERFUME COLLECTOR Trouble in Paradise begins as an escape to a tropical coast, and ends as a reminder that you carry yourself even to the most beautiful beach.
Mango, cognac, and cardamom open the extract juicy, alcoholic, and spicy. Bergamot provides a brief flash, rum deepens the drink, and caramel traps the fruit in a warm, sticky texture.
Shadi Samra starts from the idea that we do not travel to escape life, but so that life does not escape us. The colors of the sunset, sand underfoot, and tropical air become a way of re-acquainting with one's own presence.
On the skin, leather, violet, and moss appear beneath the mango. Amber, ambroxan, and sandalwood provide warmth, while animalic tones and oud lead everything towards a darker, sensual finish.
If you want a carefree beach mango or a light boozy cocktail, this base will be too leathery and animalic. Trouble in Paradise works best when you like tropical sweetness to have a problem it can't easily solve.
Towards the end, mango remains on oud, with rum and sand in a leathery fold — the sun has set perfectly, but it is the shadow that you will remember.
