Note

Raspberry Saffron Thyme Frankincense Jasmine Leather Suede Woody notes

Composed by Harry Frémont & Jacques Cavallier

TOM FORD Tuscan Leather - a perfume that practically throws you right into a shop full of new, expensive leather – and closes the door behind you.

The leather here is intense, dark, and almost raw, but one unexpected note completely changes the whole story: raspberry.

It is precisely the combination of raspberry and saffron that gives Tuscan Leather its distinctive character. The fruity sweetness does not try to make the leather gentle; it simply creates a contrast. Alongside them come thyme, frankincense, night-blooming jasmine, black suede, and amberwood.

The first few minutes can be almost shocking. Saffron and leather feel dry, intense, and somewhat animalic, while raspberry appears like a red shimmer throughout the composition.

After that, the perfume becomes smoother. Black suede rounds out the rougher leather, frankincense provides a slight smokiness, and raspberry lingers long enough to prevent the composition from becoming just a dry leather jacket.

Tuscan Leather is inspired by a love for fine leather, but there is nothing particularly polite here. Tom Ford himself describes its character through the contrast of raw and refined, animalic and intensely luxurious.

And that is precisely why it is difficult to mistake it for other leather perfumes. The perfumers behind this masterpiece are Harry Frémont and Jacques Cavallier.

If you want soft leather with a lot of vanilla, go somewhere else. If you want a scent that reminds you of a new leather jacket, the interior of a luxury car, suede, smoke, and a hint of raspberry, then you've come to the right place.

Tuscan Leather is not a perfume that tries to be universally likeable. But when it suits someone, it's hard to replace it with anything else.

Fragrantica

One user experiences it as a beautiful warm and soft leather with just a touch of fruit and particularly praises its longevity and projection. Others warn that Tuscan Leather is definitely not the easiest first encounter with leather perfumes.
Parfumo

Parfumo

Users often single out the combination of suede, raspberry, leather, and saffron as its signature. In a detailed review, it was called a kind of original by which numerous later leather perfumes are compared – but also a scent for which one needs to develop a taste.

One user describes the leather as almost photorealistic, so much so that it reminds them of horse tack. The opening is extremely strong, but the drydown is much more pleasant, with projection and longevity that last all day on their skin.
