Bitter Orange Hazelnut Mandarin Galbanum Geranium Neroli Javanese Vetiver Oil Vetiver Iris Sinfonide

Composed by Jean-Christophe Hérault

Three roots — vetiver, galbanum, and iris — sound austere, but then hazelnut and neroli unexpectedly illuminate them. JACQUES FATH Vetiver Gris is a short, precise formula where every material sits in a clearly defined place.

Mandarin, bitter orange, and neroli open the composition brightly and modernly. A hazelnut accord adds a dry, nutty softness, just unusual enough to prevent the citrus from slipping into a familiar cologne trajectory.

Jean-Christophe Hérault wished to work with the house after following the restoration of L’Iris de Fath. A meeting with creative director Rania Naim and a weekend spent with Green Water transformed admiration into a desire for his own composition.

Galbanum, Madagascan geranium, and iris concrete lead towards Javanese and concentrated Haitian vetiver. Sinfonide in the base provides a clean musky volume, but the root remains dry and noticeable.

Rania accepted his secretly developed vetiver experiment after wearing it and testing it on her family in Corsica. If you want a smoky or heavy vetiver, Gris will be too bright for you; the name is a playful nod to Iris Gris.

In the end, the gray vetiver remains with iris powder and a hazelnut shell, while neroli still casts a thin light — a spontaneous Instagram message transformed into one very precise root.
