Composed by Camille Chemardin
Peach lifts the mood for a moment, then whiskey, labdanum and tobacco bring it back to reality. ART BRÜT Weltschmerz is an extract of the bitterness of the world: sweet, spicy, and beautifully broken right where it should have provided comfort.
Peach, cinnamon, and clove open the composition fruity and warm. Elemi adds a brighter resinous kick, but the spices already transform the peach from a carefree fruit into something darker.
Camille Chemardin places labdanum absolute and whiskey at the heart. Sweet balsamic resin meets robust alcoholic warmth, while ylang-ylang and rose create a delicate floral contrast to that weight.
On the skin, honey, tobacco, and vanilla settle on Atlas cedar. Honey and vanilla envelop the wood, but tobacco retains a dry bitterness and prevents a happy ending.
If you want a cheerful peach perfume or a pleasant boozy gourmand, Weltschmerz will be too melancholic for you. The formula is vegan, cruelty-free, and CITES compliant, free of endangered and protected plant species.
Towards the end, there is a peach left in a glass of whiskey, with honey on tobacco and cedar underneath it all — a brief happiness that is valuable precisely because it already carries its own brokenness.
