Frankincense Sweet orange Spices Liqueur

Composed by Bertrand Duchaufour

What does light smell like when you turn it into alcohol, orange, and smoke? L'ENTROPISTE Altamura answers without modesty: like a flash of warm liqueur that slowly disperses into the darkness of incense.

The opening carries sweet orange and the warmth of Cointreau. The citrus is not fresh like cologne; it is steeped in alcohol and amber, rounded, shiny, and a little bitter like a peel left in a glass.

The composition has few listed notes, but it does not feel empty. Amber spreads warmth around the orange, while incense gradually changes its edges and introduces a cooler, airier smoke.

Bertrand Duchaufour here works with the contrast of the concentrated and the infinite. L'Entropiste places its story among atoms, stars, and cosmic dust, and the scent reduces this grand motif to a very precise transition from a liqueur sparkle to a floating veil.

As it stays on the skin, the Cointreau loses its juiciness, the amber becomes softer, and the incense increasingly transparent. The finish is neither churchy heavy nor ashy; it is more reminiscent of smoke illuminated from a distance.

If you imagine a lemon and a clean white shirt under a citrus perfume, Altamura goes in a different direction. Its universe is made up of orange liqueur, amber, and cosmic incense — four notes that manage to evoke a much larger space.
