Cumin Pink Pepper Frankincense Ylang-Ylang Castoreum Costus Immortelle

Composed by Alexandra Monet

Summer skin is not always clean, fresh, and citrus-scented. MARLOU Ambilux chooses sweat, dry grass, salt, and wax — the side of heat that perfumes most often try to conceal.

Cumin and immortelle immediately create body heat. Cumin can evoke skin after sun exposure, while immortelle adds a dry, bitter-honeyed aroma of scorched Mediterranean vegetation.

Ylang-ylang introduces a dense, yellow florality, but it doesn't turn the composition into a tropical bouquet. With frankincense, it becomes waxy and matte, almost like a layer of cream mixed with dust and salt.

Alexandra Monet reinterprets the scent of deer musk without explicitly listing it among the materials. Instead of polished cleanliness, you get an animalic suggestion built from cumin, costus, flowers, and smoke.

Over time, costus enhances the rooty, somewhat furry side of the perfume. Frankincense cools the edges, but the impression of heated skin doesn't disappear; it just becomes drier, chalkier, and closer to the skin.

If cumin in perfume reminds you exclusively of the kitchen, Ambilux might be a challenging encounter. This is sweat on the skin, immortelle on a dune, and waxy ylang-ylang — summer without retouching.
