Composed by Miguel Matos
Five days of clubs, too little sleep, and enough scent of skin, smoke, and metal to create a formula. MIGUEL MATOS Berlin is not a perfume about the city's architecture, but about the bodies dancing in it until they completely lose track of time.
Calabrian bergamot gives a brief cold flash, and cumin immediately pushes it towards warm skin. Smoke, oud, and leather then build a dark, industrial space that is never entirely cold.
Frankincense, oakmoss, and animalic tones evoke dampness, a basement, and the proximity of other people. Iso E Super spreads a woody surface around them, while salt and ambergris leave a mineral trace of sweat after a long dance.
Miguel Matos composed the first formula after a marathon that included Buttons in Club Ost, Laboratory, two days of Berghain, and a final night in Kit Kat. For a year, he wore it as a personal scent and refined it into his own self-portrait, the third part of a techno trilogy after Hard Techno and Unfold.
Tonka absolute and vanillin later introduce a hidden sweetness. It doesn't cleanse the space but warms the skin, oud, and smoke, like a moment of intimacy amidst hard electronic noise.
Berlin is not a souvenir from the German capital. It is cumin, salty skin, and oud after five days of raving — an intimate scent of a man who only shows you who he is when the lights go out.
