Dark

Nature in this perfume is not a green meadow, but leaves disappearing into the shadow of a cave. NEANDERTAL Dark takes plants, citruses, and flowers, then pushes them towards iodine, leather, oud, and dark earth.

Leaves, ginger, pink pepper, and grapefruit give the opening an aromatic, textured kick. Pine and incense then collide with the greenery, creating a resinous tension.

Geranium, cumin, and algae introduce an unusual iodine profile. The floral tone becomes salty and bodily, while the algae connect the damp nature with a cool mineral feel.

Euan McCall envisions the composition as a darker, shadier side of Neandertal and a scent of movement that deliberately defies usual perfume categories.

Vetiver, patchouli, oud, amber, musk, leather, sandalwood, tobacco, and labdanum absolute build a dense base. The greenery returns in a darker form, like roots and damp soil beneath animalic wood.

Dark is not just a "dark woody perfume." Its signature is iodized algae between pepper, leather, oud, and forest roots — nature seen after the eyes stop seeking light.
