Flour Musk Milk Carrot seeds Costus Cumin

Composed by Emma Lehaut

Skin in a bottle here does not mean a neat musk reminiscent of a fresh shower. MARLOU Doliphor smells like a trace of body on worn clothes, a towel that hasn't dried yet, and laundry powder underneath it all.

Carrot seed opens the composition dry, earthy, and somewhat powdery. There's no juicy vegetable sweetness; it's more reminiscent of root and the dust that lingers on your fingers.

Costus and cumin quickly introduce bodily warmth. Costus can feel fur-like and rooty, while cumin evokes sweat and sultrier parts of the body without embellishment.

Emma Lehaut works with a very small number of materials, but each one changes the texture of the skin. The musk beneath the animalic tones creates an impression of a milky veil, flour, and slimy moisture.

As it develops, the earthy carrot seed recedes towards powder, and cumin and costus remain closer to the body. The finish feels like fabric that has been washed, yet has retained someone's presence.

Doliphor is not a "skin scent" in the sense of imperceptible cleanliness. It is carrot seed, cumin, and costus on a milky musky towel — skin after the body has already left.
