The Dandy raises a glass of whiskey, but behind the polished demeanor, ashes and emptiness are already gathering. L'ENTROPISTE Dorian's Spleen begins as a decadent dessert with alcohol and ends as a room after everything has faded.
Coffee, caramel, and dark chocolate open the composition richly, bittersweet, and almost edible. Spices provide warmth, while whiskey imparts an amber alcoholic glow through the gourmand layer.
The elegance of the beginning feels deliberately exaggerated: a fine glass, a shiny surface, and a sweetness that masks boredom. The scent is pleasant long enough for you to relax before it changes direction.
Bertrand Duchaufour then introduces ash and smoke. They don't merely serve as a garnish to the whiskey; they gradually cover the caramel, cool the chocolate, and transform decadence into melancholy.
On the skin, coffee recedes into a dark bitterness, while whiskey and spices remain as warmth without joy. The finish is dry, smoky, and emptier than the opulent opening.
Dorian's Spleen is not a chocolate bar perfume. It's whiskey over caramel and coffee that slowly ends in ashes — eternal youth after it has grown bored.
