Ensang Noir

An unfinished letter lies on the table. The black ink has not yet dried, and a dark red trace of a rose crosses the paper — a declaration of love that became too sincere to remain neat.

L'ENTROPISTE Ensang Noir is a floral chypre built on the tension between coolness and passion. Blackcurrant brings a green acidity, while metallic aldehydes cut through the composition like a sharp quill. Cucumber and coriander further intensify this restless, almost unreal opening.

At its heart, a red rose appears, but not fresh and romantic. Its petals seem darkened, smoky, and slightly withered, while magnolia and peony soften it without removing the dramatic tension.

Then, frankincense rises, deep and textured, followed by warm opoponax. Patchouli, birch, and vetiver create a dry, dark frame, and a hint of caramel briefly rounds the edges without turning the scent into something sweet.

Ensang Noir gradually loses its floral clarity on the skin, becoming resinous, smoky, and almost tactile. The rose merges with wood and patchouli, while the impression of black ink remains present like a sentence no one had the courage to finish.

The composition was signed in 2025 by perfumer Bertrand Duchaufour. In its final stages, it leaves the impression of a rose pressed between the pages of an old letter, still damp with smoke, resin, and unspoken words.
