Civet Rice powder Tonka bean Cypress

Composed by Barbara Zoebelein

Clean skin and dirty skin are not opposites here, but two phases of the same touch. MARLOU Poudrextase starts like lotion and a baby's scalp, and ends much closer to the body than the powdery beginning promises.

Rice powder provides a milky, dry softness without confectionary heaviness. Rose appears as a pale, warm powder, while cypress introduces a thin green cut that preserves the composition's shape.

Barbara Zoebelein does not treat powder as a retro cosmetic ornament. She builds it into the texture of skin: cream that has been absorbed, the warmth of the scalp, and the intimate scent of the body just before we declare it clean or unclean.

As it develops, tonka and civet pull the scent from gentle milkiness towards a more sensual, animalic register. Tonka rounds out the finish with a vanilla warmth, and civet leaves a restless pulse beneath the powder.

On the skin, it is soft, but by no means harmless. If you expect neat makeup, violets, or cold soap from a powdery perfume, its physicality might surprise you; if you can't stand the civet effect, even the creamy surface won't help.

Poudrextase finishes like rice powder on a warm crease of skin — the lotion is gone, but the trace of the body it was meant to conceal has become the main thing.

One user particularly emphasized that the scent radiates like a bright sun and that the rose flawlessly blends into the powdery, luminous composition.
