Summer Oud

Banana and oud sound like a clash of seasons, but that's precisely the point. MIGUEL MATOS Summer Oud takes a material we usually associate with darkness and hot resins and throws it among tropical fruits, for summer or a dream of it in the middle of winter.

Banana, coconut, and raspberry open the extract creamy, sunny, and slightly tart. Banana is not a common perfume note and it doesn't hide here; coconut enhances its softness, and raspberry cuts through the sweetness.

Miguel Matos, who loves banana and has used it before, builds a Middle Eastern-inspired woody-amber space around it. Rose and jasmine connect exotic fruits with darker materials without a classic floral bouquet.

On the skin, oud, cypriol, and cumin begin to break through the coconut. Amber, opoponax, Chinese cedar, and musk provide a deep, warm base with animalic and resinous edges.

If you want a cool summer citrus or a strict dry oud, this combination will be too strange and creamy for you. Summer Oud asks you to accept banana as a serious material, not a joke or a candy.

In the end, what remains is oud coated with coconut, along with ripe banana and a tart stain of raspberry — a tropical sun that doesn't look unnatural on dark wood at all.
